Bright words of evergreen

WordPress.com has just wished me a Happy Anniversary. We’ve been together for four years now. No doubt in another three I’ll get itchy fingers and start flirting with younger blogging sites…

A maid drew me hither
untouched by man
Through midnight tresses
moonlit fingers ran

I whispered fiery love
into icy breath
Bright words of evergreen
fell in wintry death

I burned a vivid path
across a marble breast
Wild entreaties met
disinterest

Soft, she said, be still
(no choice I)
Let blood flow where it will
(did I cry?)

So sharp her lustrous fangs!
a deadly pierce
Hot her flesh, so cold mine
shivering fierce

A maid drew me hither
to bury me
At midnight she will come again
to set me free
