the banquet before her

Over on Dragonscale Clippings, Freya Pickard has been publishing cinquains – which I always assumed meant five-line poems, à la quintain, but the modern definition is more specific and refers to a non-rhyming sequence of lines with 2, 4, 6, 8 and 2 syllables.

Today I thought I’d join in.

she sits
contemplating
the banquet before her
what delicacies! but to start
with whom?
