The caesium of my love

I have a remote control
with which the caesium of my love
may be tinkered

Between this moment and the next
I could stop her heart
an eternity of love compressed

Or I could make it race
like steam through a reactor
and make her burn for me

But I hold her in the night
warmed by the embers of desire
her engine ticking over

Her metronomic breathing…
I rest my ear to her chest
and listen to the sea

My dreams unregulated
bright-crested billowing waves
with too-perfect symmetry

Waking, I wake her
with crystal acceleration
fingers like magic

She is passion like the Phoenix
reborn from the ashes
of forgotten love

‘I’ve been counting the seconds,’
she says between kisses.
‘You waste too much time.’
