A Girl Called X

She stumbled wildly through the trees
Fresh scars across her pretty face
Her bruised and too-oft beaten face
Fresh blood so quick to freeze

She skittered madly over ice
Bright dreams so clear, the warmth of home
She’d made it burn, that hellish home
Bright flames – so warm, so nice

Through whipping wind and driving snow
Fierce howls of rage, she prayed for death
For every man she screamed for death
Fierce cries, to let them know

She crashed, a last defiant cry
Soft leaves her final resting place
They’d find her bones within this place
Soft flesh exposed to sky

But from the stars a goddess fell
Swift plunge to Earth, a trail of fire
She found a girl whose heart was fire
Swift work to make her well

And Mistress X was born that day
True genius, yet cursed in love
To never find a human love
True heart, she found a way

  1. Frank says:

And although it’s not stated, or even intended, you could choose to interpret ‘from the stars a goddess fell’ as Supergirl’s arrival on Earth…
