Ineffectual Steel

Supergirl sat tied in chains
of ineffectual steel
Bonds of love and noble pride
commanded her to kneel

Prowling round, her lover laughed,
and said, ‘You’re mine to use!’
Duty calls, it cries your name,
but we know who you’ll choose.’

‘Do not taunt me, Mistress X,’
our superhero sighed,
‘Let me save the world again
before all hope has died!’

‘Patience now, my supersweet,
I’ve tasks for you to do
Suffering will do them good!
it’s just an hour or two…’
