The Frying Pan of Fate

I want to share a couple of links.

First up, an unusual and very entertaining fairytale: The Beautiful Mermaid.

Second – entirely unrelated – a post by Dianne Harman: Eight Deal Breaker Words on a Book Blurb. Writing a blurb for your book is tricky, and readers’ tastes differ, but there are certain words and phrases that are an instant turn-off for many people.

Me being me (an occupational hazard) I simply had to write a book blurb using all eight. So, question… Would you be tempted?

Christian White has always wanted to be the star of a love story.

After escaping from a suffocating marriage to Ester the self-proclaimed ‘Column Queen’, whose turgid sermonising had driven him to drink on more than one occasion, Christian is rescued from a life in the gutter by a feisty heroine.

But the spirited Sonia has a drink problem of her own. She’s a vampire, and not a nice one. All too soon, Christian realises she is, quite literally, the soul mate from hell…

It’s a fun exercise. Do you want to give it a go?
