Megan Cashman, author of The Dark Proposal, has written an interesting blog about the evolution of vampires that touches on many of the themes I’ve been obsessing about lately.
Megan is differentiating between younger vampires still coming to terms with their nature, and older vampires who have had centuries, even millennia, to come to terms with their nature – and to have had any and all lingering remnants of humanity stripped away.
The questions are:
- can a younger vampire retain their humanity?
- can an older vampire recover their humanity?
Both interesting, but my question is: How does a vampire retain some humanity for centuries, if not millennia? And that is the question that both my novels address.
